The Bunyip by Ollie Ck

The Bunyip

As it flew through the air towards him he knew exactly what it was (there was no doubt in his mind). He looked down to this deadly, repulsive dark creature and suddenly felt tiny compared to what might happen next. Petrified he ran for his life. In short he knew something terrible was going to happen. . .

Suddenly a huge creature rose out of the water and raced after them. He now wished that he’d left it where it was.yet he ran on holding tight to this dark creature. How far away the camp was didn’t matter he only cared about getting away from this dreaded ghost like thing. that was chasing him to get his baby back.

They pelted up the mountain and towards the camp. were they going to make it in time to survive? the huge mum was now metres from the men. BANG!!!!! One of the men looked back and saw sparks fly from the arm of the mother of the most dreaded creature in all of mythology, he realised this could be his last breath. Seconds later thunder clouds formed and lightning struck.

To make matters worse it started to rain. The rain flew from the sky as fast as bullets. But this was no ordinary rain. SPLASH!! it hit all of the men and suddenly their arms and legs started to disintegrate, they tried to run into their huts but it was too late! They were already being devoured by giant flames! there was no way of escaping.

By now half of the men's bodies were gone and they were on the verge of death! The huts and mountains were on fire yet everyone could still hear the moaning of the baby of a dark, dark creature. but nobody cared as they were about to die!

The bunyip flew through the air whilst making squeaking noises and flying towards its monstrous mum. lightning still flashed through the sky and thunder rumbled high above them. all of the houses were still covered in orange flames.
the bunyips sped off floating in mid-air. Rain was beating down putting out all of the remains of the monstrous fire’s. Nothing remained of the campsite and all of the trees around them were scorched or burned down. Everything was destroyed!!

The two bunyips floated down the colossal mountain and back towards their lake. The scorching sun had come out again and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky they lived in their lake and no one disturbed them ever again.

  1. I really enjoyed this as it made me think about your first paragraph : how you can 'feel tiny compared to what might happen next'.
