The Bunyip
But the stubborn man just kept on running. Even though the man's friends had told him several times to give the creature back to its mother Yagu stupid Yagu completely ignored the wise words of his friends. Terrified horror-struck petrified they all ran back to camp, their hearts thumping their palms sweating. Why did they he have to cheat by using meat? Why did he have to steal the baby Bunyip? But most importantly why did he have to disobey the Bunyips mother?
Sprinting Yagu and the other men stopped to look behind…
Luckily for them the mother Bunyip wasn't following them. They had crawled their way out of this one!
Or did they?
Finally the camp was in sight. Yagu strode proudly into it showing of his pride catch. Everyone clapped as Yagu strode round in circles. Euphoric and elated, delighted and overwhelmed, Yagu gave his wife a traditional Chubba Chubba greeting, which to a westerner is a kiss on either cheek.
They all sat calmly round the camp-fire calmly as Yagu bragged about his catch. He spoke about his fight with the Bunyip and how he wrestled it into the boat. The men that went fishing with Yagu with Yagu all rolled their eyes in astonishment that Yagu could make up such silly lies. Meanwhile the every women in the camp remarked how strong and muscular he was. Every women in the except one. Now that women was probably the most important women, that women was Yagu’s wife. She was just sat in the corner quite annoyed that Yagu apart from a kiss on either cheek had completely ignored her!
Finally Yagu had stopped bragging and everyone was now round the camp-fire singing and passing round the baby Bunyip prodding it on the way round. They were all having lots of fun when suddenly the brightness and the warmth of the camp-fire vanished into darkness…
A little boy called Camma screamed and wondered where the fire had gone. Yagu’s wife kept shouting we must all stay calm! Suddenly everything went silent, until a faint moaning could be heard. Everyone knew what it was…
All that could be heard was deafening screams, for a few minutes, until at last all was silent, the campfire lit again. There was no sight of the baby Bunyip the mother Bunyip or Yagu.
