THE STOLEN GENERATION by John Davies
T ime does not heal those wounds that are so deep
H urt me they hurt me unspeakably forcibly
E ntering those white rooms those windows were double-locked
S tolen were we from our mothers and fathers
T erribly damaged our families our welfare
O ver so quickly like sheep rustlers at midnight
L ost to our heritage dreaming and soul
E nding in tragedy betrayal brutality
N ever to find what we once searched so hard
G ender means nothing siblings see schism
E ver to yearn for that reunion impossible
N ot even allowed my crocodile carving
E ase with which we wave our farewell
R avings and nightmares a constant reminder
A ustralia she says she will educate freely
T emerity is shown oh but once and forgotten
I ndigenous three quarters and small fraction whitie
O ppression is over and Sorry come February
N ever says Rudd now we find us so favoured
But
the minerals they beckon so softly so teasingly the politicians sleep
but tomorrow they act……..
