Terror in the Dark

Two eyes stared out of the gloom, bright red and piercing as if looking right through my flesh. Suddenly more blinked into existence, all staring at me with a fixed intensity, a small amount of light flickering behind them but not enough to see by. As it shivered, they moved about in the dark. My fingers fumbled for the switch and as the lights buzzed into life I saw the horror that I was dealing with. Shocked, scared and horrified I ran from the creatures within. They were my last and worst fear . . . Rats.
