A description of Australia seen by captain Cook
"Land"exclaimed one of my crew members "Land Captain, I see land." I came scrambling out of my cabin . As I observed the land over the side of the ship, I saw a vast expanse of land. This is my land I thought, no one can stop me, this was new, or was it...
"Get the rowing boats out, I'm prepared " I told first mate. I decided for some men to look after the ship. I sprung into the rowing boat, and my men started to row towards the island. Eventually we reached the unchartered beach, I stepped out onto the land, the sand was like silk in-between my toes. The sun scorched the sand, the sand was boiling hot so our feet were really hurting because they were burned.
Suddenly some men were running at us, they were covered in strange patterns. Then they stopped however they were screaming at us in foreign language, throwing stones at me. We offered them gold... Yet they continued to advance.
