Our Mosque designs using Sketchup CAD

Following our trip to Birmingham to visit a Mosque, Class 4 looked at the design and architecture of Mosques from around the world. We used Google Sketchup to create our designs - Here are the completed mosque designs.

Sound Cloud Oscars 500 word first paragraph

500 word by Oscar Curtis

BEEP, I dived in to the pool. The water was freezing but that did not matter. I swam frantically towards the wall hoping that nobody was in front of me. I could hear my mum and my coach cheering me on, it was important to win because my brother was racing in the same race and he was in a different club. Then ‘flick’ the lights went out. The referee stopped the race and told us to climb out of the pool. So far fate was against us both.

Everyone was wondering what or who could have done this, and to make it even worse I was winning the race. I already knew that whoever did this was in big trouble. The officials went off to check the power supply and reported back that the main switch was broken so the whole gala would have to be cancelled, but they would have another gala in Hereford next week.

One week later

BEEP, I dived in to the pool. The water was freezing but that did not matter. I swam frantically towards the wall hoping that nobody was in front of me. This time there were five security guards guarding the power switch so nothing would go wrong. I got to the wall, quickly I tucked myself in to a ball, flipped over and pushed off the wall hoping that I would have taken the tumble turn to my full advantage. I looked slightly to the right I could not see anyone. I looked in front nobody was in front of me. I was winning and I was nearly at the end. I felt my hand touch the wall, I could hear screaming and I knew I had won.

But then I realised they were not screaming because I’d won, they were screaming because one of the swimmers had gone under, in fact they were at the bottom of the pool. I turned and swam as fast as I could hoping that I could save him. When I pulled him to the surface I realised that the boy was my brother’s best friend, he started to breath again, filled with relief I gave him to the life guards.

That’s when everybody started cheering for me and I felt like this was better than winning. My coach came over and said “well done, you are a hero” then he pulled a medal out of his pocket and told me he had won this here 36 years ago.

The next day my mum bought home the newspaper and on the front page there I was standing with the boy I saved, the medal around my neck and my whole team in the background. On the next page it said that our team had won and we were in the regional final, my brother was so proud he didn’t mind losing. The door bell rang, ‘Ding Dong’, it was a letter from the Olympic Junior swimming association. My smile could not get any bigger.

Oscar's 100 word challange

I was sitting in the museum with my buddy Jake, and then I saw a gold shiny object sat on top of the model of the T-Rex. Jake said it was just part of the frame but I knew that it was not, so I decided to hide behind the Stegosaurus. When the museum had shut I climbed to the top of the model and when I picked up the object a bone fell to the floor. I quickly slid down the model, petrified, breathless, I ran as fast as humanly possible, for dread that this might be the end.

Life is a road

Life is a road so I am told,
Sometimes blustery and sometimes cold.
When the sunshines you can follow the lines,
and when the wind blows just follow your nose.

Follow the brush and you will be in no rush,
as dark as it could be always follow me.
If you stop to have a cup of tea it will leave you be,
But if you go too quick you will might get flicked.

The moral might be as you can see..
the road might be long as life carries on but chose your path well
and all will be well.

The cliffhanger

Harry was ten when he met his first monster, he had just arrived home from school when he found an outline of a beaming creature which was oozing green goo hiding in his wardrobe and to finish it off it was growling….

It then leapt out at Harry and before it had the chance to grab him he ran down the stairs out of the house and into the garden, fortunately his Mum and Dad were out visiting his Grandma so he lured it out of the garden, into the forest. Frightened, terrified and exhausted Harry was never seen again!

Oscars Nandos poem Challange

Down on my luck, with no food for tuck were do I go from here?
I can't stay at home, so all on my own with no one for company except fear...
My family have gone, I had to move on with no clothes on my back ... just an empty back pack
A couple of crumbs and on my blistered thumbs, the workhouse for me will anyone ever hear my plea..

Twisted

“Jake your phone has arrived” called mum. A small boy with ginger hair and freckles ran down the stairs, he snatched a parcel out of his mothers hand and ran back up the stairs to his room where he eagerly opened the securely wrapped package. The phone fell to the floor, as Jake looked down he realised that the back had fallen off and there was a button with funny symbols inside, Jake pressed it, where upon loads of wires flew out of the phone wrapping themselves tightly around Jakes arm, the more Jake pulled the more tighter it got…..

100 word challange

If the dog had not been let off the lead, if I had not chased the dog to try and help the owner and if I had not run into the queue, than I would of not be doing this crocodile rope swing now. Unfortunately for me I ended up being first in line so the man harnessed me to the rope, I tried to tell him but he could not hear me due to a combination of the noise around us and the fact he was wearing his headphones, I felt my body become weightless and I was gone……………

100 word challenge M-Jay and Oscar

It was bonfire night and the whole town had joined together to take a look at the amazing fireworks everyone had bought along with them. But just a few seconds before the fireworks were lit, a huge cloud of smoke came out of nowhere! Mum said to me look up! Can you see the big cloud of smoke? I could see it, and it was heading straight towards us, everyone started running for their lives! Once everyone had stopped running I was exhausted: I had run almost a two miles! When we got to a safe place there were kids screaming, while parents were looking up to the sky in horror...

ww2

In 1941, the ships where just about to set sail from Australia to England, to deliver some brave men to fight in the Second World War.
It was also at this time that the Captains were sent a telegram saying that they would have to change course because a old light house had been destroyed by a German bomber.
The ship’s made their way safely to England and when they got there the Australians were straight into combat. Soon Australia and England united over-powered the German army.
More ships came the next day and they all serenaded and we won!

The alive drawing

The alive drawing

Once there was a man called Peter Potter.
Peter was a quiet and lonely man who liked drawing, swimming, painting and building. On his birthday he visited a stationery shop and found a glittery pen with red spots so he bought it.
When he got home he drew a man, then slowly the man scrambled out of the page. Then the man said “hello, my name is Burt”. “Hi, my name is Peter” said Peter. I come and talk to people who are lonely and do not have many friends. And from that day on peter was never lonely again.

The scariest moment of my life.

my name is Hannah, I’m 21 now, and teaching children in a primary school. You will never guess what happened?  One day my friend and I  walked to the shop to get some milk. We were  kidnapped by a gang of thugs. They knocked us out and took us away. When we finally were awake I looked around, but all we could see was water. I was in a well, we both climbed up the well, we were at the church,  my house was next to the church. At my house  I opened the door and mum said  “the cops had caught the thugs.”

100 word challage

The old shed

Gary had recently moved house. Since moving he had been too busy to explore the village. Today was Saturday though and it was his chance to look around. He went outside where he spotted a purple rabbit, it zipped through the hedge and ran away into a beautiful garden.
Gary checked that there was nobody in the garden and crept in through the gate. He peeked through the dirty window of an old shed and spotted some pink slippers hooked to a ladder.
Gary turned quickly, tripped over the purple rabbit and fell. It all went dark.

The Magic Boomerang - By Oscar

The magic boomerang

It was the first day back at school after the Christmas holidays, and the bell had just rung. Mr Warne told us that our new topic is Australia and he  said that first we were going to make boomerangs. When I had made my boomerang we all went outside; it was Finn's turn to go first, but it did not go very far, then it was Ben's, followed by Beth. Eventually it was my turn, so I skimmed it in the air and it did a fantastic loop the loop. The boomerang seemed to have a mind of its own.
