As I hit the ball everyone in the stadium knew where it was destined...
The lap of the king of Pongola who was wearing his crisp, white ceremonial robes, his head topped with a precariously perched fez. The king, otherwise preoccupied with knitting himself a pair of bright pink socks, was most surprised to find a neon green tennis ball nestled in his knitting. "Strawberries and cream," called the king to the ball boy. "Fetch! Now!" he shouted in broken English. Perplexed the poor boy looked towards the Umpire who gave an uncertain nod. I sighed, relieved.

100 word challenge Darcey
"I'm getting out of here!" Yelled the giant ant: commonly from Brazil. "I'm bound for England in the next consignment of nuts - Brazil of course!" The ecstatic ant boasted to his amigos whilst balancing on the tip of a banana, protruding from a fruit bowl. "Yeah, ok, I know their football leaves a lot to be desired but now I get to try fish and chips!" He rubbed his antenna together gleefully, too gleefully for suddenly a manicured hand reached for the banana propelling poor Pedro through the air. "Have a nice trip! Send us a postcard!" His amigos laughed sarcastically.

100 word challenge - Darcey
The bus chugged along, holding its usual crowd of rowdy passengers. Amelia and Jay were revising for their maths test.
"Did you hear that?" Amelia asked
"Hear what?"
"Listen!"
Jay heard it too that time - a harrowing sound something between a creak and a screech, the bus trembled - as did its passengers and shuddered to a halt. Terror held the children's voices hostage momentarily until they all started screaming in unison. The arms of the nearby trees encroached upon the vehicle, wrapping it up like a parcel. Gnarled, bark encrusted fingers tapped the windows like the talons of a dragon...

Suddenly, Mr Warne turned a deeper shade of red and steam could seen coming from his ears. The class laughed at his magnificent steam train impression! "Another! Again!" Class 4 cried! Then Mr Warne was a cow, a goat, a sheep! The children were in fits of laughter. "More!" The kids all yelled.
"That's enough for today!" Mr Warne answered.
"One more!" They pleaded.
"Just one." he agreed. Mr Warne waddled around the classroom clucking like a chicken. The more Mr Warne clucked the more Class 4 chuckled. "Mental Maths!" Mr Warne declared
"Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" The class groaned.

100 word challenge - Darcey
We bumped and bounced over molehills, weeds and boulders and shuddered through the 'marvellous eighteenth century, wrought-iron gates - designed by Brunel himself ' ! (Or so Mr Rightmove, our estate agent, said) As we pulled up on the drive my mum and I shared a bemused look. "Umm!" Mr Rightmove broke the silence. "The bedrooms are very light and airy, such elegant charm don't you think?!"
"Lovely." Mum replied flatly.
"You don't say!" I whispered " Bound to be airy with no glass in the windows!"
"Darcey!" Mum warned, shoving a packet of crisps in my hand to shut me up.

100 word challenge - Darcey and Oliver Cr
The people of Malvern awoke with a start as a burst of birdsong bounced off the windows. “Look up, can you see the birds?!” They cried out of their windows to neighbours. The birds were beautiful: exquisitely coloured, their feathers fluttered in the breeze. Everyone stared at the brilliant birds with their fancy feathers as they swooped effortlessly over the rolling hills, singing the enchanting song of their ancestors. They slowly disappeared with elegant wings flapping noiselessly. Where they came from and where they went no-one knew, that was up to the sun and moon, the rain and the wind.

100 word challenge - Darcey
Imagine a glowing light in the darkness, a towering beacon, a magnificent lighthouse: now forget what you have imagined as the 'Grand' Harbour Lighthouse, Fish Fluke Point, Ross Island, Canada is nothing of the sort. It crumbles,a decaying mess as the land on which it balances is slowly reclaimed by the stormy sea. Once it guided sailors to safety (my grandpa said),spinning its beams of light across the vast black marble ocean.Today its creaking frame holds only memories: a child swinging in his hammock, an old man descending the spiral staircase as the lantern snaps to black...

The Bunyip by Darcey
The Bunyip
Why he did it nobody knew, or ever will know. He had stolen a Bunyip! A terrible, deadly, repulsive creature as black as night with no visible features, a shape shifter, a death trap!
He pondered over this as he strolled back to his camp in the valley, whistling to lift his spirits. He was happy- he had something to show his wife - In short he was a very ignorant man.
As the men wondered back to the valley they ignored the screams of the distraught mother Bunyip and the strange gushing sound that they couldn’t quite place. It was the sound of the rising flood slowly gaining upon them.
Finally their camp was in sight, but the water was all around them, covering land for miles and miles. The youth slung the Bunyip on the ground and flung his arms around his love vowing to protect her.
Water closed in on the camp menacingly forcing them closer to one another.
Suddenly darkness crept inch by inch over the camp cloaking it in black. Black what? Nobody knew or ever will know. A scream rang out; a human scream. If you take a walk to a valley in between vast expanses of water you will find the strangest formation of trees in the world. The strangest of them all are two trees with branches outstretched towards each other.
Legend has it that the trees are actually humans that were transformed when they got on the wrong side of the dreaded Bunyip! What do you think?

"Seriously, black hair! Why black? I would have preferred golden locks not this bristly broom head!" Screeched Leonardo's latest masterpiece. Leo was shocked! His drawing had a voice and an opinion! ( Leonardo was also quite offended - he liked black hair!) "Ugh, this top is so last year!" The sketch grumbled "And why black and white! Why not use those lovely paints over there? Blue is so in this year!"
"Watch it!" Leo warned, " I could rub you out if I wanted to!"
"Oh I'm so scared!" The cheeky piece of art laughed.
"Right, that's it!" Leonardo dived for the eraser.

107 word challenge - Darcey
Bedding down for the night I run through everything I know about myself in my head : I am called Daniel Starkey, I am fourteen years old and I am stranded on an uninhabited island with Tabitha, the ship's cat, after we were shipwrecked. Not the best thing that ever happened to me! Lucky we are marooned on an island that is home to some very useful coconut trees, consequently we are provided with food and drink! I'm scratching this into the piece of driftwood that saved our lives! Gazing towards the horizon I hope to be rescued but all I can see is water; my faith dissolves.
I hope you don't mind I changed the tense of your words Mr Warne i did it because I really wanted to write in the present tense.

105 word challenge - Darcey … A Nonsense Poem.
The grand pink gorilla
Whose name was Godzilla
Was riding his bicycle
Whilst balancing an icicle
On the end of his vivid pink nose.
How the creatures all laughed
And thought him quite daft
As he wizzed through the Zoo
In his waistcoat of blue
While striking an elegant pose.
From out of his pocket
He drew a bright red rocket.
The animals shouted and cheered,
Including the roo with the beard
As up into the air it rose.
Then the grand pink gorilla
Whose name was Godzilla
Went on riding his bicycle
Whilst balancing the icicle
On the end of his vivid pink nose!

100 word challenge - Darcey
Petrova was dead. She had been dancing her solo when the lighting bar crashed onto the stage. Her mother wept bitterly, shutting Petrova's ballet shoes into the creaky shed at the bottom of the garden - looking at them pained her. She trudged mournfully back to the house through the howling wind and rain, averting her eyes from her daughter's rocking swing…
Many moons rose and fell over the shed until it, along with the house, had been sold. As Petrova's mother retrieved the garden tools the sorrowful shoes caught her eye. They weren't moth eaten, faded or mouldy - they were black!

100 (+ 10) word challenge - Darcey
The boomerang seemed to have a mind of it's own. "I'm too old for this nonsense!" grumbled Archie shuffling after it in his carpet slippers. "Not my prize roses!" he wheezed as it beheaded half a dozen white blooms. "You wicked piece of firewood!" he panted chasing after it waving his walking stick in a frenzy, accidentally hitting a passing bumble-bee who buzzed off angrily. Archie let out a gasp of surprise as the boomerang whirled around and headed straight for him! No time to think he dived for the nearest soft spot. Unfortunately that soft spot was the compost heap, oozing with rotten tomatoes, egg shells and potato peelings!

100 word challenge - Darcey
I stepped eagerly inside the TARDIS which was crammed with knobs, buttons, wires. It might fly at any moment and if I stepped out I would fall through time and space! (Shame, it was just a set!) All at once I sensed a vibration under my foot. Leaping back I saw a peculiar watch! The battery light flashed and I glimpsed the batteries rolling away. I thought it would tell me the time but when I put the batteries in it said "I'm the time and relative dimension in space watch. Please state your chosen destination!" Bemused, I chose Mars…

Caricature of Mr.Warne
Mr Warne comes running into the room wearing his blue warriors kit, the stripy shirt, stripy shorts, stripy socks, stripy scarf, stripy gloves and a stripy beanie. It was like he wanted to score a tri, shoving and pushing the class to one side in a desperate attempt to reach his desk. He slams down his laptop shouting "FIVE POINTS TO THE WARRIORS!" And the game (sorry day) starts.
He blows his whistle and shouts "James throw me that register!" Mr.Warne dives across the Classroom and catches it! "Great pass James! Now lets see how many players have turned up today."
"Excellent two full teams plus subs today! Ok lads time for scrums, lets get into our guided reading." The whole class dash around to get into their groups, all except Sam who's reading last nights match programme, Worcester Warriors vs Bath, just incase Mr Warne asks them any questions about the game.
Mr Warne shouts "Sam, Penalty to the other team for not getting into your group!"
"But Mr Warne!" says Sam "It's last nights match programme!"
Excelllent, Excellent thats a conversion 2 dogo points for you Sam!" Then the whole class whips out their Worcster Warriors programmes into the air. "Excellent, Excellent, Excellent! Game over! Everybody out into the playground for rugby practise!"

The
one hundred word challenge - Darcey
In the topmost room of the
tallest tower lay a chilling painting of a young girl imprisoned in a glass
cage however, she hadn’t always been depicted there.
Once she had lived, breathed,
played in the gardens below. She had ignored a warning never to set foot in
there and with curiosity had ascended the marble staircase, pushed the door of
the forbidden room open and stepped nervously inside, astonished to find only a
beautiful array of paints and a plain white canvas; but when a shaft of
moonlight had fallen upon its surface a miraculous transformation had occurred...

100 Word Challenge Darcey Chambers
Fabia looked up from her task of scrubbing the opulent mosaic floor as a shadow darkened its gleam. She was astonished to see a massive black cloud looming over the city of Pompeii.
The everyday noises of traders going about their business and children laughing had ceased; the city was silent but for the solitary howl of a dog. Fabia knew that dogs could sense bad things before they happen, she leapt up to warn her master. "Dominus!" She cried "We must flee, something bad is about to happen!"
"Where is Alberto?! Where is my son?!"
The howling grew shriller; and then the noise stopped...
